Sponsored by the Social Responsibility Group (SRG) and Friends of Douglass Cemetery, this free annual event, open to the public, honors the over 2,200 individuals buried at Alexandria’s historic African American Douglass Cemetery. Established in 1895 after Frederick Douglass’s death, the cemetery is located within the Wilkes Street Cemetery Complex. Attendees will learn about plans for the preservation of this important Alexandria landmark. The program includes speakers and tours of the cemetery grounds.
